Government Nursing Officers' Association rejects Sinopharm and Sputnik V vaccines
The Government Nursing Officers' Association urges the government not to obtain the COVD vaccine which is manufactured in Russia and China, due to the lack of approval from the World Health Organization (WHO).
In an inquiry made by Ceylon Today, the President of the Association Saman Ratnapriya stated that WHO has doubts about the research reports on the relevant vaccines, and thus, that the association believes that such vaccines are not fit for distribution amongst the citizens of Sri Lanka.
He said that he had requested the Ministry of Health and the National Drug Regulatory Authority to obtain information on the relevant vaccines and no reply has been received so far.
This statement was made following Chief of the Presidential Task Force, Lalith Weeratunga's statement that in addition to the current Covishield vaccine that is being brought down from China, the Government is also preparing to import the Sinopharm vaccine from China and Sputnik V vaccine from Russia, said Lalith Weeratunga.
