GSMB to investigate sand mining in Marawila

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has instructed the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau send a special team to investigate sand mining in the Marawila area.
The Minister had taken this step after several protests broke out in the area with regard to sand mining.
Chairman of the Bureau Anura Walpola states that the relevant team will commence investigations today (26).
The Minister has also instructed officials to revoke the sand mining licenses of persons who have illegally used sand mining licenses and caused damage to water sources.
