General Election 2020 General Election 2020: Voter turnout at 71%

The total voter turnout for the General Election 2020 stands at just over 71 per cent, including postal votes, according to the Election Commission.

The number of votes cast totalled close to 11 million, out of which 700,000 were postal votes.

The official Election results will begin to be issued from between 2.30 and 3.30 p.m. tomorrow (06).

The voter turnout by District is as follows:

Colombo District – 72 per cent

Gampaha District – 69 per cent

Kalutara District – 71 per cent

Kandy District – 71 per cent

Nuwara Eliya District – 75 per cent

Matale District – 71 per cent

Galle District – 69 per cent

Matara District – 71 per cent

Hambantota District – 73 per cent

Anuradhapura District – 71 per cent

Polonnaruwa District – 71 per cent

Trincolamalee District – 74 per cent

Batticaloa District – 72 per cent

Digamadulla District – 72 per cent

Badulla District – 74 per cent

Moneragala District – 74 per cent

Vanni District – 73 per cent

Jaffna District – 69 per cent

Kurunegala District – 69 per cent

Puttalam District – 63 per cent

Ratnapura District – 73 per cent

Kegalle District – 71 per cent
