Garry Anandasangree re-elected to Canadian Parliament

Sri Lankan born human rights activist, lawyer Garry Anandasangaree won his constituency Scarborough-Rouge Park and has been re-elected to the Canadian Parliament following the 2021 Canadian Federal Election held recently. He is among the six Liberal incumbents re-elected in Scarborough with 16,051 vote difference beating his rival Conservative, Zia Choudhary who bagged 8, 059 votes.
Born in Jaffna, he is the son of senior Tamil politician V. Anandasangaree, the leader of Tamil United Liberation Front and moved to Canada in 1983. Garry Anandasangaree has been a vocal campaigner against human rights abuses during the Sri Lankan Civil War and has attended several sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council to defend Tamil rights.
