Fuel price hike: SLPP demands resignation of Energy Minister
The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) says that the Minister of Energy must resign from his post over the increase in fuel prices.
In a statement issued today (12), the General Secretary of the SLPP, MP Sagara Kariyawasam stated that the Minister should be held responsible for the increased difficulty the citizens of Sri Lanka have been forced to face with the increase in prices of fuel, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kariyawasam has further alleged that the subject minister had created a difficult situation for the Government by taking such ill-timed decision, at a time people are already suffering.
Kariyawasam raised further concerns as to whether this was a deliberate political move, so as to create a feud amongst the public regarding the current regime of the country.
