From 2023 onwards: O/Ls in August, A/Ls in December

The Cabinet granted approval to conduct the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination in August and Advanced Level examination in December, which will be implemented in 2023.
The issuance of examination results will be within three months. The Cabinet also approved restructuring the syllabus of Grades 10 and 11 as well. The Education Minister has submitted these taking into considering the long time spent on issuing examination results as well as the time spent for the selection of students to the State Universities. The Cabinet also approved containing the selections of students for the Universities based on the Z-score without waiting until the re-correction process of G.C.E. Advanced Level examination marks.
Addressing the weekly cabinet briefing yesterday (4), at Department of Government Information, co-Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella noted that if there are students whose results are upgraded after re-correction process, they would be awarded new Z-scores so that they would be able to take the relevant degree courses. This methodology would be implemented with effect from Advanced Level examination in 2023.
