Samagi Jana Balawewa (SJB) Parliamentarians continued to boycott Parliamentary sessions and staged a protest, against the acts of violence in Parliament by the ruling party MPs, in front of the Parliament complex for the second consecutive day.

Addressing the Media, yesterday (7) Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the Speaker doesn’t have a backbone to stand against the injustice meted out to the Opposition.

“We are staging this protest to make the public aware that the Opposition has been denied its Freedom of Speech in the Parliament. Though we have bitterly complained and shown our disapproval and intolerance to such unrefined acts, the Speaker doesn’t have the backbone to carry out a fair inquiry,” he remarked.

Premadasa reiterated that the Speaker is trying to conduct ‘Committee Politics’ in the Parliament, by appointing Committees for everything to obscure unruly incidents of this nature.
