FR petition challenges cabinet’s legality
A fundamental rights petition filed today (19) in the Supreme Court by an engineer challenges the legality of the incumbent cabinet.
The petitioner notes the cabinet has more than 30 members, the maximum mandated by article 47 (1)(a) of the constitution.
He seeks an interim order staying the president, prime minister and the ministers from functioning as the cabinet.
The petitioner is secretary of the Professionals National Front of Sri Lanka G. Kapila Renuka Perera.
