Four cricketers crowned under four categories

The final quest of the Most popular school cricketer 2021 concluded on 24 July as 4 competitors were crowned as the most popular cricketers across four different categories. The final quest started at 10.00 a.m. and continued up until 10 p.m.

There was a live coverage of the voting process by, before the winners were finally announced. Division One (1) category: Raveen de Silva of Nalanda College emerged victorious defeating Chamindu Wickramasinghe of St Anthony’s College, Kandy. 

Raveen received 11,569 votes in the specially curated voting software from and Chamindu 10,988 votes. Division Two (2) category: Denuwan Jayawardana of CMS Sri Jayawardanapura College, Kotte was crowned as the most popular school cricketer. He received 13,529 votes and his opponent Mahasen Ranasinghe of Kingswood College received 9,034 votes. 

Division Three (3) category: It ended being a tight contest and the winner was decided by a very close margin. Mohammad Bishry of Azhar College, Akurana, who received 9,606 votes, ended up being the most popular school cricketer, while Nadun Priyadarshana of St Aloysius College, Ratnapura, emerged as the runner-up with 9,448 votes. Girls’ category: Savindi Cooray of Wadduwa Central College was crowned as the most popular schoolgirl cricketer 2021. She received 8,160 votes from her fans in the final. 

Nethmi Malshani of St Anthonys College, Kandy ended up as the runner-up receiving 7,496 votes. Winners and the runners-up received multiple awards and prizes from the sponsors. Life insurance from Union Assurance, a scholarship worth Rs 200,000 from Atari Holdings, a trophy and cash prize from, and a special voucher from Fono Technologies were among the prizes. (IR)
