News Four arrested with 10kg of ‘ice’ in Talaimannar

Four suspects were arrested when they attempted to smuggle nearly 10kg of crystal methamphetamine (‘ice’) into the country, during an operation conducted by the Navy in the beach area of Urumalai, Talaimannar yesterday (15). The Navy said the street value of the stock of drugs is believed to be over Rs 79 million.

 Personnel of the Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Thammanna in the North Central Naval Command made the arrest after searching a suspicious dinghy approaching the Urumalai beach. The suspects were identified as residents of Urumalai in Talaimannar, aged 28 to 37. The suspects together with the drugs and the dinghy were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward legal action.
