Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Ranjith Chandrasekara, noted the schools for the other Grades will start on 10 August.

When questioned as to whether they will continue to conduct online classes for the students from these Grades who have been requested not to come to school if they have a weak immune system and a tendency to contract diseases, Chandrasekara said while they will not continue with the online classes, the teachers and the parents have been advised to be attentive on the lessons that are being covered in school so that these students will not miss lessons.

The Ministry also stated that the Principals and Deputy Principals of all schools used for electioneering should remain in the schools on 28, 29, 30 and 31 July in order to prepare the schools for the 2020 General Election.
