Follow health guidelines after getting jab – State Minister
State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and COVID-19 Disease Control, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, told Ceylon Today that COVID19 vaccines will take at least 3 months to create immunity, and therefore, even those who get the jab should follow health guidelines properly. She pointed out that one month after the first vaccination, the second dose will be given, and even after getting both doses, it will take at least 3 months for the body to build up immunity. The State Minister said further that if every citizen wears a face mask properly and maintains social distancing, while keeping hands clean, it will be possible to control the COVID-19 spread, as there will be no transmission. Dr. Fernandopulle also said in addition to the vaccines that are being used at present, other vaccines will be imported expeditiously.
