Fmr Pugoda OIC remanded

The former Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Pugoda Police, who was interdicted and arrested over the death of a youth while in custody, has been remanded till 27 October.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana yesterday (21) said stern action will be taken against the officers if found guilty of having acted against the law regarding suspects in Police custody.
Following several investigations conducted into the death of the youth a Police Sergeant and seven others were arrested and remanded over the incident. He added that following further investigations, the OIC of the Pugoda Police Station, at the time of the incident, was also arrested. The 20-year-old who died at the said Police Station was later taken to the Ragama Hospital on 12 October.
