Five taken in with KG and ivory in Vavuniya

Four individuals were arrest with Kerala Ganja (KG) while another was arrested with ivory on 3 March in Vavuniya by the military; Nedunkerny Police said yesterday (4).
Police said four individuals had been moving about in a suspicious manner that evening, when military personnel on patrol duty checked them. They were arrested when small packets containing KG and 250g in their possession.
The suspects were between 19 and 48 years and residents of Nedunkerny, Pattikudiyiruppu, Keerisuddan and Mathurampiddy areas.
Meanwhile, when the military checked the house of the person resident in Pattikudiyiruppu, they found elephant tusks hidden in the house.
Police said the 68-year-old father of the main suspect is alleged to be involved in hunting for ivory and was taken into custody by military personnel.
Subsequently, the suspects were handed over to Nedunkerny Police.
