Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala yesterday ordered ex-Chairman of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), Wimalasena Rupasinghe and its former Director T. L. Chandrapala to be acquitted from all charges filed against them and to release them from the case, where they had been charged with causing a loss of Rs 5 million to the State while serving in their respective posts from 2010 up to 2014.

Chief Magistrate Ragala gave this order following submissions made to him by officers of CIABOC who sought to withdraw the charges filed against the two suspects as the three Commissions appointed by them had not signed the charge sheet. Accordingly the Court ordered both suspects Rupasinghe and Chandrapala to be acquitted from the charges filed against them and be released from the trial.
