Dozen killed on roads in a day

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said 12 deaths from road accidents were reported on 28 February across the island.
DIG Rohana said in the recent past there was an increase in road accidents due to reckless driving and drivers not paying attention to road rules. Motorcyclists and passengers have been found to be reckless resulting in an increase in accidents.
The public is urged to abide by road rules to prevent road deaths. DIG Rohana said the Police were conducting special operations to apprehend traffic law breakers, especially those who speed and drive recklessly under the influence of liquor.
