DMT extends driving licence validity period

The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has decided to extend the validity period of driving licences which expire from 1 October to 31 December by three months, due to the prevailing COVID-19 spread within the country, said Commissioner General of the Department, Sumith C.K. Alahakoon.
He noted the permission to extend the license expiry date has been granted and signed by Transport Minister Gamini Lokuge and the Gazette in this regard was sent to the Department of Government Printing for publication.
He said this decision to extend the expiry date was taken after considering public complaints.
