Divisional Secretary apprehended for sexual harassment

Kiriella Divisional Secretary was arrested for sexual harassment in terms of Section 345 of the Penal Code on 18 January.
The arrest was made following a complaint to the Regional Child Protection Officer of the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) of the Kiriella Divisional Secretariat.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said, the suspect was produced in the Magistrate’s Court on the same day and was enlarged on a personal bail of Rs 200,000.
The case will be taken up on 11 May. Further investigations into the incident will be conducted by the Children and Women’s Bureau of Ratnapura Police Division.
