Diploma in English and Education revamped
The State Ministry of Skills Development, Vocational Education, Research and Innovations, said the ‘Diploma in English and Education’ course conducted by technical colleges, has been converted to the ‘National Diploma in Teaching English as the Second Language,’ after considering labour market requirements.
The Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) stated students who have completed the ‘Diploma in English and Education’ course conducted by technical colleges prior to the introduction of the National Skills Standard, can obtain the ‘National Diploma in Teaching English as the Second Language’ National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level Five, by appearing for assessments related to the skills standard.
Deputy Director of the Department of Technical Education and Training, B.M.C.N. Balasuriya, said if any additional learning is required, related programmes can be organised.
The Media release issued in this regard added that the TVEC also informs that information can be obtained by contacting the Director (Quality Assurance and Evaluation Control) of the TVEC, to take steps to conduct competency-based assessment activities and on issuing NVQ certificates.
