By Chamara Amarasuriya
Leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress and ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen failed to turn up at the CID on 31 July to record a statement in connection with the ongoing probe into the 21 April 2019 Easter Sunday bombings, despite being summoned, informed sources said.
CID sources said they have already made submissions to the Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate’s Court regarding Bathiudeen’s failure to report to the CID when summoned.
Bathiudeen had also failed to provide a statement to the CID after being summoned twice, prior to 27 July.
However, the CID had recorded a five-hour long statement from Bathiudeen on 27 July at the CID unit set up at the Irattaperiyakulam Police Station in Vavuniya, on an order by Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayaka.
