Dayasiri wants Select Committee to address int'l allegations
State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara has requested that a Select Committee be established to address international allegations and challenges posed to Sri Lanka.
In a letter addressed to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Jayasekara raised concerns over several threats instigated especially by certain organisations outside the country with vested interests.
He noted that the following concerns remain as grave threats in the long term, unless high priority is attached to formulate strategies to deal with them;
- Resolutions/Bills that have been passed, backed by international support
- Fabricated, adverse propaganda backed by international support
- The frequency of lobbying at international platforms and in the event of the growing influence of extremism, which may prove to be difficult to manage.
Further, Jayasekara also submitted a letter by the Global Sri Lankan Forum in this regard, highlighting matters of dire concern.
