Dalada Maligawa Police Unit told to self-quarantine

A total of 231 Police officers, at the Sri Dalada Maligawa Police Unit, in Kandy have been directed to self-quarantine following several Police officers testing COVID-19 positive, Kandy SSP Sudath Masinghe said yesterday (17).
He said, previously four Police officers, at the Kandy Police Station’s administration division, had tested COVID-19 positive and then the Police officers at the Sri Dalada Maligawa were directed to self-quarantine, while a team of 189 Police officers from other Police stations in the area were deployed to continue their duties.
He said that PCR tests are being performed on Police officers at the moment.
Meanwhile, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela said that an officer of the Sri Dalada Maligawa Police Unit was first infected with the virus before Ukrainian tourists arrived in the country and none of the staff of the Sri Dalada Maligawa was infected. He added that none of the Police officers working inside Sri Dalada Maligawa have been infected with the virus.
