Customs seizes 16kg gold

Officers of the Narcotics Control Division of Sri Lanka Customs seized 16 kg of gold worth over Rs 220 million smuggled from Dubai, inside auto parts and coffee makers. Media Spokesperson and Deputy Director of Customs Sudatta Silva noted the mechanical parts of the interior of these items were made of gold.
But the vigilance of the customs officers was able to thwart this attempt, he added. Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the incident and further investigations are being carried out by the Customs Narcotics Division, Silva said.
