Curfew will be imposed on case-by-case basis: Army Commander
Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva stated that quarantine curfew was imposed in Dematagoda, Modera, Wellampitiya, Kotahena and several other areas due to high density of the population and presence of a large number of close contacts of COVID-19 patients in those areas.
"Larger groups of contacts have been detected in the areas in question", he added.
He further said, "The imposition of curfew should be done on a case-by-case basis since there's no need to go for an island wide curfew.
The next 24 hours will be more critical as more and more cases are reported from harbours including Galle, Aluthgama and Beruwala. PCR tests have been increased in and around those areas as many of them were directly or otherwise connected to the cases traced from the Peliyagoda cluster", Army Commander said.
