Cremating Muslim COVID-19 dead: Muslim MPs keeping mum – Imran

By Naalir Jamaldeen
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Trincomalee District MP, M. Imran, yesterday (11), questioned as to why the Muslim MPs and Governors remain silent regarding the Government’s policy of cremating COVID-19 victims.
Imran alleged that although the Government has announced that it will cremate Muslim COVID-19 victims, Muslim MPs and Governors took no action and didn’t issue a statement against it inside or outside Parliament.
“When the rights of Muslims are denied, their mouths are locked. They are unable to resist this act of the Government. There are MPs who joined the Government by supporting the 20th Amendment. If something seems to be going favourably for them, such MPs come out to enjoy benefits after being quiet when our rights were taken away,” Imran said.
“We will establish a political culture in which all communities of this country will be able to live peacefully in the future, after teaching a good lesson to communal Government and the business politicians,” Imran said.
Meanwhile, Imran said destroying the Mullivaikkal monument, which had been installed at the University of Jaffna, must be condemned.
He added that the monument had been erected to commemorate Tamil civilians who died during the war, and not to support terrorists.
