Local COVID-19: Sri Lanka situation report

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said that the number of COVID-19 cases reported in Sri Lanka has risen to 2,042, following the identification of five new cases yesterday (29).

According to health authorities, the five new cases include two returnees from Bangladesh and three returnees from Pakistan.

Thus far, 752 persons who returned from overseas had contracted the virus, while 904 Navy personnel have also been infected with COVID-19.

The Epidemiology Unit further stated that 320 patients are currently receiving treatment for COVID-19, while 1,711 COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
