COVID-19 positive public officers’ claims to be paid

Secretary to Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government, J. J. Rathnasiri issued a circular for the payment of claims of public officers who have tested positive for COVID-19, under the ‘Agrahara Insurance Scheme’. The circular was issued to Secretaries to Ministries, Secretaries to State Ministries, and Chief Secretaries of Provinces and to Heads of Departments, upon inquiries made by the Heads of Institutions and Public Officers, on the benefits entitled by Public Officers, who have tested positive for COVID -19. 

‘’As per the inquiry made from the National Insurance Trust Fund, in this connection, it has been informed that action will be taken to pay the claims under the Agrahara Insurance Scheme for officers, who receive treatment for COVID - 19, in consideration of the manner in which they receive treatment,’’ Rathnasiri said.

 The circular states that accordingly, all the provisions including the claims that will be paid, methodology for payment of claims and documents to be submitted for this purpose can be obtained through the official website of National Trust Fund.
