Covid-19: 52 inmates of Jaffna Prison test positive

Northern Provincial Director of Health, Dr. A. Kedishwaran said that 52 inmates at the Jaffna Prison have been infected with COVID-19.
He stated that this was revealed after PCR tests were conducted on 150 inmates
All the infected inmates have been taken to the Kandakadu Quarantine Centre for treatment, Prison Spokesperson Chandana Ekanayake stated.
Prison officials who have been identified as close contacts have also been referred for PCR tests.
Meanwhile, the total number of infected persons reported from prisons increased to 4,932 today (28). Out of that number, 249 are currently under treatment and 4,670 have fully recovered, according to prison records.
