Country stable, no need for lockdowns: Dr. Jasinghe
Health Services Director General, Dr. Anil Jasinghe, said there is no need to isolate or lockdown any part of the country, as there had been no spike in reported COVID-19 cases during the Election.
Noting that the current situation of the country is secure as far as the COVID-19 pandemic is concerned, he added that in the past two weeks, the only COVID-19 infected persons were reported from the Lankapura area.
He pointed out that Sri Lanka successfully overcame the challenge of holding an election during the COVID-19 crisis without succumbing to the risk of the pandemic spreading further.
As of 10 a.m. today (06), only five new COVID-19-positive cases were recorded, and the total number of persons receiving treatment was 287.
