Committee on High Posts approves eight new envoys
The Parliament’s Committee on High Posts yesterday (25) approved the appointment of eight new envoys including Sri Lanka’s new Permanent Representative to the UN and envoys to the US, China, India and Japan.
The Committee meeting was chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake also participated in the meeting.
C.A. Chandraprema was approved as Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland while S. Amarasekara was approved for the post of High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to South Africa Admiral (Retd) K.K.V.P. Harischandra de Silva was approved as Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Afghanistan.
Vishramal Sanjiv Gunasekara was approved as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan. Milinda Moragoda was approved as the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India.
Furthermore, Ravinatha Ariyasinha, Professor Kshanika Hirimburegama and Dr. Palitha Kohona were approved as Ambassadors to the United States of America, France and the People’s Republic of China, respectively. (MD)
