Comments against Archbishop: Harin’s ploy to reduce Kavinda’s votes – Wimal

By Nabiya Vaffoor
National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader Wimal Weerawansa yesterday (24), alleged that Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) National List aspirant Harin Fernando is attempting to reduce the number of votes that fellow SJB candidate Dr. Kavinda Jayawardena could garner at the upcoming General Election.
Responding to a question raised by journalists during a Media briefing, Weerawansa further alleged that Fernando’s recent statement against Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith was made to defeat Jayawardena by distracting Catholic SJB supporters in the Gampaha District.
“The SJB always wanted to defeat Jayawardena. Fernando’s remarks are part of that plan. The video which was circulated online recently, allegedly involving Jayawardena, had been posted by his own Party members to reduce his votes and distract his supporters,” Weerawansa also alleged.
