Coastguard seize over 5,000 kg of Turmeric
Sri Lanka Coastguard (SLCG) seized over 5,000 kilogrammes (more than five metric tons) of dried turmeric being smuggled into Sri Lanka allegedly from India in two consecutive days, on Friday and Saturday (23-24 October 2020), the SLCG said on Monday (26). The detections were made when an SLCG operated fast patrol vessel (FPV) attached to the Western Region took into custody two Indian boats with 11 Indians together with these consignments when conducting patrols off Kudiramalai, in the Gulf of Mannar.
