Life Savers attached to Sri Lanka Coastguard (SLC) saved four persons from drowning in separate rescue operations on Tuesday (13) and Wednesday (14), the SLC said on Thursday (15).

On Wednesday (14) they saved two local males, a 21-year-old at Panadura and the other a 35-year-old at Unawatuna, Galle.

SLC on the previous day Tuesday (13) saved a 16-year-old local girl, K.Y. Abeywardana from drowning at Mirissa, Galle and a 36-year-old Indian male at Panadura. 

SLC, since recording such rescue attempts from 1 December 2009, has thus far saved 1,559, persons including 704 foreigners, from drowning, with this year’s tally alone, up to Wednesday (15), being 23. The SLC functions under the Defence Ministry.
