The National Organisation for the Protection of Pensioners (NOPP) charged that a circular had been issued depriving those who had gone into retirement since 2016, of at least half of their pension.
National Organiser of the NOPP, Mahinda Jayasinghe alleged that due to this circular, a sum from Rs 5,000 to Rs 60,000, is denied these pensioners, on monthly basis.
He said that the recent Cabinet decisions would only be implemented from future budgets and charged that till such time, pensioners would be forced to eke out a meagre living.
