CFW Launches Retail Week 2021

The 18th edition of HSBC Colombo Fashion Week is focusing on the increasingly important aspect of circularity for this Summer 2021 showcase. This year’s theme of Circularity in Fashion highlights transformation in fashion, inspiring meaningful change in the fashion design industry of Sri Lanka, and promoting sustainability.
After a successful first year run of Retail Week, it is back this year for a second year. Retail Week is a creative collaboration between different streams to enhance retail experience and interactions. CFW in association with One Galle Face launches Retail Week 2021 to curate a first-of-its-kind experiential retail event within the theme of ‘No Plastic Week’. With the increase in climate crisis, pollution and global warming, CFW rethinks the runway show promoting mindful production and ensuring the designers who showcase their collections meet a sustainability criteria, keeping with the overall theme of circularity in fashion.
This ten-day programme will take place from 28 March to 9 April 2021 and focuses on dynamic themes such as Wellness, Fashion, Luxury and Cuisine. This programme is based on creative collaborations which bring about engaging retail interactions for guests and patrons, and will be launched in association with One Galle Face and HSBC Sri Lanka.
It is a knowledge and engagement-based experience which includes expert talks on relevant themes and subjects, book readings and workshops, value-added retail experiences, a home-grown music event, a junior chef programme, an art workshop for kids, and special events like wine tasting and food and beverage demos.

We will be creating experiences that are relevant and responsible which will enhance and empower every consumer who walks into the One Galle Face Mall. This new concept of retail is dynamic and goes beyond the sale format,” Ajai Vir Singh, Managing Director of CFW Holdings stated.
One Galle Face shoppers spending over Rs 2,000 between 19 and 24 March will have a chance to ‘Spin the Wheel’ and win prizes, while shoppers spending over Rs 5,000 between 25 March and 11 April will receive an OGF voucher for Rs 5,000 to spend within the mall.

CFW Retail Week will craft knowledge and engagement-based retail experiences which incorporate talks and other events categorised into dynamic themes. In today’s context, all must be sensitised towards the importance of the environment, and hence this interactive retail programme has been created to build knowledge and awareness through workshops and talks to engage the audience.
Wellness themed events will include talks on conquering the mountain by Johann Peries; fitness events such as Animal Flow and holistic events such as yoga sessions. For the fashion enthusiasts, CFW Retail Week offers a batik workshop by fashion designer Sonali Dharmawardena; a talk on Circularity by Ajai Vir Singh, Managing Director of Colombo Fashion Week; and a specially curated viewing of Careem’s Jewellery.
CFW Retail Week will also include gastronomic experiences such as a Junior Master Chef event for young culinary aficionados, and plenty of food and beverage specials throughout the One Galle Face Mall for patrons to enjoy. Also, they have also curated Quiz Night; Kids Art event; Workshop with Artika Aurora Bakshi; a Home-grown Acoustic Evening.
