CEBEU to commence trade union action at noon
The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers' Union (CEBEU) will commence a work-to-rule campaign at 12 p.m today (25) and a breakdown in the electricity supply is possible.
"The trade union action will proceed until our demands are met," CEBEU said, issuing a statement.
The demands include not proceeding with the New Fortress Energy LNG deal, not stopping the ongoing transparent tender procedure by CEB for LNG deployment and to stop the attempts of unbundling CEB.
Further, CEBEU also requests to cease proposed amendments for the board Act No. 17 of 1969 and to prevent the politicisation of the CEB General Manager postition.
They also demanded to stop abrupt transfers of the senior management.
