CEB engineers suspend union action
Engineers of the Ceylon Electricity Board have suspended their work-to-rule campaign in view of recurring power outages.
They were involved in the union action to press for six demands, including the cancellation of Yugadanavi power plant share transfer deal.
Meanwhile, the incidents of power failures are believed by the CEB management to be an act of sabotage by the engineers.
CEB general manager M.R. Ranatunga also accused them of dragging their feet with the supply restoration work.
According to him, supply has been restored to several areas.
It was reported earlier the power outage was due to a failure in three sub-stations that provide electricity to the National Grid.
