CEB employees granted 25% salary increase
Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board, Vijitha Herath says that the salaries of employees of CEB will be increased by 25% with the approval of the Cabinet.
In a statement, the CEB Chairman says they have been able to reduce CEB’s losses from Rs. 97 billion to Rs. 56 billion from 2019 to 2020. The salary increase is from the 2021 - 2023 period with an annual increment of 12%, he has said in the statement.
The decision has been reached as employees of the CEB worked tirelessly during the COVID-19 lockdown period, Herath mentions.
Meanwhile, 90% of CEB employees took steps to not to report for duty on 08 April in protest of the delay in salary increments which were due in January 2021.
