Case against fmr Kandy ASP further hearing on 25 Sept

Colombo High Court Judge Adithya Patabendige on 25 September deferred further hearing of the case filed against former Kandy ASP Kulasiri Udugampola on charges of illegally raiding a safe house maintained by Army intelligence officers along with the arrests of Intelligence officers and the seizure of firearms, to 17 December.
When the case was taken up, the accused Patabendige who is presently out on bail was present in Court. Further hearing of the trial was fixed to the said date and Judge Patabendige also ordered a former Director of the Army Intelligence Unit, Retired Major General Kapila Hendawitharana, to be present on the said date to give testimony in the case.
The Attorney General has indicted the accused Patabendige at the Colombo High Court on charges of unlawfully raiding a safe house operated at the Millennium City Housing Complex in Athurugiriya on 2 January, 18 years ago, while arresting its officers and seizing its weapons and committing offences pertaining to the revelation of State secrets, imperiling national security and damaging the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country, through his actions.
