Cabinet green-lights four projects

Cabinet approved the implementation of four projects related to managing environmental pollution and chemical management. According to the Cabinet Paper, two project proposals are for the management of plastic waste covered by the Basel Convention and two more for formulating and training pertinent to mercury management covered by the Minamata Convention throughout the year 2021.
The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, a specific international programme affiliated with the Minamata Convention, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Government of Switzerland, and the United Nations Industrial Development Programme have all agreed to fund the implementation of these projects. Cabinet Spokesman Dullas Alahapperuma stated that the Cabinet approved the signing of the relevant agreements.
