Cabinet grants approval to restructure A/L & O/L syllabi
The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to the proposal submitted by the Minister of Education Prof G. L. Pieris to restructure the G.C.E. Advanced Level and Ordinary Level syllabi.
The decision has been reached to reduce unnecessary delays the students experience due to the gap between the examination and the release of results.
The proposal underlines that the Grade 10 and 11 syllabus is to be reduced to one year and nine months and for each of the exam results to be provided within three months following the exam.
Meanwhile, students will be selected to State Universities according to the Z-score of their original marks, eliminating the long wait for recorrected exam results.
However, those who obtain recorrected results will be able to study the relevant degree course with their new marginal Z score.
