Cabinet approves relief grant for Diyawadana’s family
The Cabinet has granted approval to provide a relief grant of Rs. 2.5 million to the family of Priyantha Kumara Diyawadana, who was brutally murdered in Pakistan on Friday (03).
An angry mob of hundreds tortured Kumara, who was working as a factory manager in Sialkot, to death and then set the body on fire over blasphemy allegations.
The Cabinet has approved a proposal tabled by the Minister of Labour to provide a grant on a humanitarian basis by the Bureau of Foreign Employment for the welfare of his wife and children, considering his extensive contribution to the Sri Lankan economy for a period of eleven years as a migrant worker.
