Cabinet and State Ministers swearing in tomorrow
The new Cabinet of Ministers and State Ministers will be sworn in before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa tomorrow (12), the President’s Media Division (PMD) announced yesterday (10).
In a statement, the PMD said, the swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Magul Maduwa of the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy.
A Gazette Extraordinary was also published defining the functions and the structure of 28 Ministries and 40 State Ministries. The Ministries that come under the purview of the President and the Prime Minister were also included.
National priorities, policy responsibilities and functions have been taken into consideration in formulating the Ministries while State Ministries have been structured to facilitate the achievement of special priorities and the implementation of programmes according to the broad scope of each Ministry.
Special attention was paid to national security, economic development, infrastructure facilities, education, health and sports in the formulation of the Ministerial structure and covers rural and agricultural development as well as education while the scope, priorities, affiliated institutions and legal framework of each Ministry has been explained, the PMD said.
