Bus operators to face the music

Emphasising that buses could carry passengers only according to their seating capacity, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that action would be taken according to the quarantine laws, against buses crews that did not comply with the instructions.
He said that bus drivers, conductors and owners should pay attention to this matter.
Meanwhile, the Police and the Army launched a special operation on 1 May at 12 entrances and exit points in the Western Province. The Police Spokesman said that during the operation, they checked whether those travelling in vehicles were complying with the quarantine laws and regulations.
He said during the operation, a total of 526 vehicles had been inspected and about 250 of the 1,102 persons in those vehicles were found to have violated quarantine regulations.
He noted that people in different families and different areas, must wear facemasks if they are traveling in a vehicle. Accordingly, the Police have taken steps to warn the relevant persons. DIG Rohana further said that steps would be taken to continue this type of operation.
