Bullish run continues at CSE

The bullish run at the Colombo Stock Exchange extended for the third consecutive session on Monday (07) as the benchmark index rose on a higher turnover to record a new seven-and-a-half-week high despite continued foreign exits. The benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI), which started the day at 7,567.38points, crashed to 7,560.72 points during the early hours before peaking to 7,603.44 points. The index settled at 7,591.90 at the end of the day gaining 24.52 points (0.32 per cent) compared to the previous day’s close.
The more liquid S&P SL20, which started the day 3,046.47points, packed to 3,060.23 points during the early hours and the index saw many fluctuations during the day before closing at 3,055.14 points gaining 8.67 points (0.28 per cent) compared to the previous day’s close.
The day’s turnover neared Rs 2.1billion, lower than the Rs 3.15 billion recorded during the Market’s previous day’s trading. Shares of 254 listed companies were traded during the day of which 93 were winners ahead of 84 losers. More than 114.9 million shares changed hands during the 26,466trades that took place.
Foreigners exited the CSE on Monday (07) for the twelfth consecutive session. The net foreign outflow during the day amounted to Rs 87 million as foreigners sold shares worth Rs 108 million as against purchases worth Rs 21 million. The top five winners during the day were:Blue Diamonds, Lanka Ceramic, Beruwela Resorts, Central Finance, HVA Foods. Top four losers were: Laugfs Gas (non-voting), Renuka Hotels, Sinhaputhra Finance (P), Arpico Insurance.
