Budget 2021:Debate on second reading to continue today

The debate on the second reading of the budget is scheduled to be held for the third day at Parliament, today (20).
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa read the Appropriation Bill at Parliament on 17 November. It is considered the 75th budget proposal, and proposes to allocate Rs. 2,678 billion for public service expenditure for the financial year 2021 and to obtain loans no more than Rs. 2,900 billion, from domestic or foreign sources.
The second reading vote will take place tomorrow (21) at 5 p.m. and MPs in prisons will also be allowed to attend the session and vote.
Thereafter, the Budget Committee session will be held from 23 to 10 of December. Voting ends at 5 p.m. on 10 December.
