Body of slain Chief Monk found

The body of the Chief Incumbent of the Sri Wijeyadarmanada Pirivena in Maha-Induwara, who was allegedly murdered, was found by the Kosgoda Police yesterday (29).
Police said the body of the 73-year-old monk was found in his room in the temple at 10 a.m.
Further investigations into the incident have been launched by the Kosgoda Police, while the inquest will be carried out by the Balapitiya Magistrate.
Meanwhile, two suspects, 33 and 60, who were arrested on 28 June for allegedly assaulting a monk attached to a temple in Kahatagasdigiliya were produced in the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The monk in question is currently being treated at the Anuradhapura Hospital.
