Body at Kurunegala Hospital subjected to PCR test

Subsequent to the death of a patient from Gampaha, who was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital yesterday (25), the Judicial Medical Officer of the hospital decided to subject the body to a PCR test, during the inquest.
The patient (66), a resident of Imbulgoda, Gampaha, had been admitted to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital for treatment by a relative residing at Wehera, Kurunegala on 21 October.
During the inquest on the patient, when his address was being checked, it was found that inaccurate information had been given and as a result, the body had to be subject to a PCR test.
Coroner of Kurunegala, Deshabandu Keerthi Amarasinghe, said future activities will be decided once the results of the PCR test is received.
