BMC showroom open to the public

Sanitaryware and floor and wall tiles imported by the Building Materials Corporation (BMC), are being sold through the BMC showroom, at Sri Sangaraja Mawatha, Colombo, an official attached to the State Ministry of Rural Housing, Construction and Building Materials Industries Promotion said on Monday (20).
He said State Minister Indika Anuruddha officially inaugurated the sale from the BMC showroom. The industry had suffered some setbacks due to shortages and rising prices of sanitaryware and floor and wall tiles.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had instructed to import high quality sanitaryware and floor and wall tiles through the BMC to undertake the construction activities smoothly, according to the official. He said the BMC is currently importing the aforesaid items and distributing them islandwide through its showrooms.
Going forward, customers will be able to purchase imported sanitaryware and floor and wall tiles at reasonable prices, the official said. State Ministry of Rural Housing, Construction and Building Materials Industries Promotion Additional Secretary (Construction) S.M.A. Nelugolla, BMC Chairman Mahendra Wijesekara, General Manager Dilum Ratnayake and several officials were present at the inauguration ceremony, the official added.
