“No matter what shape or size you are, you should feel confident in your own skin.” – Joanna Krupa People love to look beautiful and attractive. Nothing is wrong in that. But the problem is that many ignore ‘health’ in order to achieve their chosen beauty goals. This is all because of a misunderstanding of what beauty is. Looking beautiful is not all about wearing make-up, nor having the perfect body shape. Being beautiful is not being able to compare yourself with a leading cinema star or a top model. Beauty is not about white skin or straightened hair, or it is not about artificially extended nails. Such modern beauty standards are highly questionable as they are mainly focused on marketing various products but not concerned about the good health of people. Modern beauty standards force women to wear makeup and look like a doll, work out at the gym, stay skinny and at the same time having curves, looking young all ways etc. Such standards pressurize people and create serious mental and physical health issues among many. 



Beauty is health (mental and physical) 

To look beautiful, one must look beautiful inside and out. Which means, focusing on good mental and physical health is essential to look beautiful. 

Coping with stress 

Stress and anxiety have a great negative impact on one’s physical health. Relaxing and learning to accept and let go, adds great value and meaning to one’s life. Stress is inevitable in today’s life. But the solution is to learn how to cope with it. Engaging yourself in meditation, yoga, arts and crafts and a healthy hobby helps you a lot to learn to cope with the harsh realities of life. 

Be kind and generous

 Practicing compassion greatly helps to boost your mental and physical health. This is why many engage in some sort of charity or social work that helps those who are in need. Being kind to others and being sensitive and conscious about every living being around you adds an unbelievable amount of radiance to your mental health that will reflect on your overall beauty. Being Beautiful inside and out 

Accepting yourself for who you are 

Forget all about these modern beauty stereotypes. Imitating your favorite star or model should not be your beauty goal. You are a unique human being and the society does not want a duplicate or a replica of another human being. Be yourself and embrace your natural skin colour, natural hair, eye colour, body shape and height etc. Be at peace within and love yourself. 

Admire uniqueness and diversity 

Beauty shouldn’t have stereotypes. Every human being is beautiful in their own unique way. It is not only white skin or straight hair or light eyes that are beautiful or attractive. Once you start seeing beauty in diverseness and in the uniqueness of everyone, you will not be bothered about modern unrealistic and unhealthy beauty standards. 

Beauty is confidence

 Be confident about yourself. To achieve this, focus on improving your skills, and your strengths. Educate yourself, learn new things and start up your favorite business or work towards your dream job. Join a public speaking class, or learn a new language or enroll yourself in an arts and crafts class. 

Eat fresh 

What you eat plays a vital role in how you look. Eat fresh. Avoid junk and processed food. Opt for fresh vegetables and fruits as much as possible. 

Drink plenty of water 

Drinking enough water keeps your skin hydrated and healthy. Water is essential to maintain good physical health. 

Be clean

 Cleanliness and personal hygiene is very important. Bathing and regular washing should be your daily habits. One cannot look beautiful without clean teeth, clean nails and clean hair. Make sure your nails are cut and often cleaned. Wearing clean clothes, keeping your environment clean and tidy, managing your garbage properly contributes directly to one’s beauty and attractiveness. 

Love nature 

Spend quality time outdoors. A walk in the beach, or the park or even in your own garden boosts your mental and physical health. Feel the grass, the wind and enjoy the chirp of the birds. Spend time under the early morning sun. Take a sea bath whenever possible. Learn gardening and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the plant world. Adopt a pet for some extra joy and companionship. 

Go natural 

Most of the beauty products in local stores are not natural and in most cases are harmful for your body. Some of them might make your hair or skin look unhealthy when used for a long time. Hence be cautious about your beauty products. Organic and natural products are costly but worth it. Invest some time in preparing your own beauty products as much as possible. Natural oils, minerals and natural products which you can harvest from your own garden or find from your kitchen (make sure they are organic vegetables and fruits) will do wonders on your skin and hair. Accept and learn to feel confident and beautiful without make-up as much as possible. Opt for minimal makeup most of the time and let your natural beauty shine.
